"If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito."

-Dalai Lama

This Friday is World Environment Day again! In 1972 June 5th was the opening day of the first World Environment Conference in Stockholm. And since then this memorial day proclaimed by the United Nations environments program is celebrated every year in over 150 countries to spread awareness for environmental protection. Every year the focus is on a specific topic, which this year is biodiversity.

It's very important to have international memorial days like this to draw people’s attention to environmental issues. But in fact, it's our everyday actions, that have the biggest impact on the condition and also the future of our planet.

A lot of people hesitate to change their daily behaviours, because they assume, that their actions are too small to make a real difference. But there is no such thing as “too small” if it is for a good cause. At UNRAVELAU, we love this quote from the Dalai Lama, which we also chose as a headline for this article: Because this simple metaphor illustrates, that really every one of us can have a positive impact. Do you also know this quote, which is all over social media: It’s only one straw, said 8 billion people. That one really makes you think, doesn’t it? Nobody is perfect, but if everybody takes small steps and tries to act more sustainable in their daily lives, we can all together have an enormous positive impact on the environment.

And you never know where your efforts for a more sustainable lifestyle will lead you: Also our founder and designer Laura, who was into fast fashion herself, started to change her behaviour step by step, after watching the documentary The True Cost in 2015. And today, only a few years later, with UNRAVELAU she runs a fashion label, that’s sustainable in every detail.

For this reason, UNRAVELAU honours this year’s World Environment Day by sharing our best tips to become more sustainable in your everyday life. We will show you how easy it is to implement small changes, that will do a lot of good for the environment!
